Maxillofacial Prosthodontics

The department of Prosthodontics deals with replacement and rehabilitation of missing teeth with crowns,bridges,dentures and implants as well as rehabilitation of patients with congenital or acquired defects in the mouth or face like cleft lip and palate, acquired defects due to cancer of the mouth or face. Prosthesis is fabricated to mask such defects. Facial prosthesis like eye, ear, nose, facial and other body parts like fingers, hands etc are also done.

 

Bridge

The bridge is meant to fill in missing teeth, while being supported by the remaining teeth. A tooth used for supporting a bridge is called an abutment tooth. Bridges are preferred in patients who lost tooth due to decay or trauma. Implants can be added to rehabilitate more extensive tooth loss.
